Maple Ridge BC, was the setting for the Hallmark Channel movie Jingle Around the Clock. I had a day to watch some of their filming and finally saw some of the “fake” Hallmark snow for myself. The movie plot: ” Elle’s plans for Christmas reunion are thwarted by work. In order to get a career-altering promotion she’s forced to team up with advertising campaign ‘fixer’ Max, who has a completely different take on the Holidays.” The day I saw filming they had filmed one scene as a Chicago Christmas Fair and used a downtown open area in Maple Ridge for aN open air fair. After they completed this filming they moved to the central area of Maple Ridge and they used the front of the Civic Building. The night before they had put together a small ice skating rink along with lots of wintery hanging snowflakes, christmas trees and lots of other holiday decorations. The “ice” rink was actually made with plastic pieces and covered with water and snow. It looked to be a little less smooth for the skaters than real ice would be. They used a lot of fiber fill type material for covering the bushes around the rink and sprayed a white foam type material on the tall trees. They also had real snow they were putting around in the area.

The actors included Michael Cassidy as Max, Katerina Katelieva as Sara and Brooke Nevin as Elle.  These were the only two I saw this day for filming.

Jingle Around the Clock will be on the Hallmark Channel December 22nd.

Premieres: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22 8pm/7c
