I recently spent an afternoon at Vista Hills Winery located atop the Dundee Hills just an hour south of Portland. Their tasting room called The Treehouse, truly is located at the top of the mountains overlooking the vineyard and the valley below. It was a beautiful day to walk around the vineyard and enjoy the first few blooms of the vines. The grape vines are now steadily growing till October when they are harvested. Its a early harvest year in Oregon because of the unseasonably moderate winter we have had. It is expected the harvest will take place 2-3 weeks earlier than normal.
Here is more information about Vista Hills:
We produce small-batch estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris high atop the storied Dundee Hills. The Dundee Hills AVA is situated in the northern stretch of Oregon’s famous and fertile Willamette Valley. We source only from our vineyard, applying a minimalistic approach in the cellar in order to showcase both site and vintage.
We are family owned and operated and proud to be a part of the rich and growing tradition that is Oregon wine. In addition to producing wine, we sell about twent acres of estate fruit to prominent area wineries like White Rose, Dobbes, Le Cadeau and Elizabeth Chambers Cellar. Our high-elevation setting allows for slow ripenening conditions and affords tremendous panoramas of the Coastal range.
Drop by the Treehouse Tasting Room for expansive views and award-winning Willamette Valley wines. We offer a $15 standard flight of wines and a $25 private tasting option. The latter includes special releases, extensive winemaking details and library wines, when available.
Open daily, 11-5 pm. We ask that groups of eight or more call for a reservation.
